Introducing the 1st of our HOW TO - series, where we demystify those elements of freelancing that you’ve always wanted to learn.
As independent artists, we have to wear a lot of different hats to get our projects off the ground. And it can often feel like we’re imposters underneath that hat, not sure what we are doing or how we are going to compete with the bigger, fully funded companies who have 30 years of booking international tours.
In this course, we’ve invited a few incredible artists to share their insight and advice about self-producing, team building, budget management, and more. These individuals have navigated the murky waters of being a small team working with very little resources and have made it work, despite some bumpy roads along the way. Hear from their first-hand knowledge and gain tools to apply this to your own independent projects and teams.
The first 3 sessions will each be led by a different artist and will include lectures, time for communal workspace with the other participants, and a Q&A. The last session will be a panel discussion with all the workshop leaders, followed by a final Q&A.
Bring a specific project you are working towards (i.e. - a funding application, a production you want to start touring). Or an idea you are wanting to pursue (i.e. - a collaboration with your dream artistic partner, a training programme you want to lead). Or come open minded and let the sessions fuel a dream you didn’t know you had.
